"Web Wednesday" was started by Napoleon Biggs back in June 2007 to bring together members of the digital media and internet communities in Asia. The community has now grown to over 1,800 members with regular monthly gatherings in Hong Kong (the mother event), Singapore, Guangzhou and Beijing and attracts a healthy mixture of interactive agencies, entrepreneurs, media owners, web designers, software programmers, artists, academics, bloggers, investors, start-ups, students, head hunters and job hunters.
As you can probably tell from it's name, we meet on a regular basis - in Hong Kong it's the first Wednesday of the month - to socialise, learn and make new contacts. We now have an active group of over 1,200 people on Facebook, of which 150-200 or so turn up to our regular social mixer. This community is supported by a blog, a Twitter feed, a LinkedIn group, a podcast channel, a Flickr Group, a slideshare group and an email mailing list.
Typically, people start to arrive at the venue (Volar) in LKF from 6:30pm onwards, we then kick off the interview (casual, sofa style) at 7:15 or so, talk for 30-40 minutes, take questions from the floor and then let the crowd get back to mixing.
